Joy, vivid color, and playfulness can be found in each charming figure in American Whimsies from Michigan artist Stacy A. French. Every captivating, handcrafted item - be it a sparkly witch, snowman, amused bunny, pumpkin, or little patriot - is an expression of Stacy's deep sense of wonderment.

She was raised in Detroit in a bustling family of 12 children. Her grandfather taught her to draw at three, and she spent many enchanting hours with bright crayons creating images from beloved fairy tales. She has studied art, yet considers herself mostly self-taught. For years she was professionally associated with a number of graphic artists, studios and advertising agencies, always immersed in creative energy.

Stacy began creating her own designs in the 1980's with cloth dolls and Santas, but it was her discovery of paperclay that has enabled her to fashion the fun and funky figures of her imagination - the delightful little personalities known as American Whimsies.
